It was good to have Jason, Kim, Scottie and Alea with us for Sunday School and worship yesterday. Some of our people were able to help them get moved to a new larger apartment in a much nicer building during the afternoon. Their new place is in West Longview in the “Robbin’s Addition”. They would appreciate help with transportation to church beginning November 16th. They have the required car seats for the children. If anyone receiving this communication would be willing and able to help, contact the church office for more information.

Rehearsal for the Christmas play is coming along. As Kerrie said in church yesterday, more people are needed to make this a quality production. People are needed to sing in the choir for the play (even if you don’t sing in the regular choir you could do this!), help create scenery, work with lighting, make costumes and a list of other jobs and positions. The play is scheduled to be performed the evening of December 13th and the afternoon of December 14th. The public will be invited. Tell all our friends!

I have a “link” to share with you that will get you to a video of our Suzanne Martinson promoting her book. We watched it in the office and it’s great. I was already planning to purchase the book Saturday, but after watching the video I can hardly wait! As you should already know, Suzanne is going to be selling her books at the bazaar and they have pledged 20% of the proceeds to the church. This will go to the church budget rather than the UMW. The week’s schedule:

Tonight:

• S.P.R.C. is scheduled to meet at 6:00 p.m.
• The Finance Committee has called a special meeting for 7:00 p.m. with all the committee chairs. Don assures me that it will be a brief meeting, concerning our 2009 budget, which is of great interest to all of us.
• There had been a meeting scheduled for the people interested in the 2009 Mission Trip tonight, but that meeting will be rescheduled for another time.

Tuesday:

• Of course it is election day, but with our county being all mail-in ballots the actual day will probably just mean the local, regional and national coverage of the results.
• The Disciple Bible Study at the Hemrich’s home is canceled for this week.

Wednesday:

• The Social Justice team meets at the church at 6:00 p.m. My apologies to Dan for not getting this meeting on the list in the bulletin. As Dan said in church yesterday, they can use more members on this team. Just because the election will be over doesn’t mean the work on Social Justice is done!
• Choir practice is at 6:30 each Wednesday.
• Set up for the bazaar begins Wednesday. We can especially use some muscle power at 10:00 a.m. for getting the tables set up and arranged.

Thursday:

• Set up for the bazaar continues, starting at 10:00 a.m.
• Trustees meeting begins at 7:00 p.m.

Friday:

• Preparations for the bazaar continue.
• Be sure your items to sell at the bazaar are at the church by Friday.
• Baked items can be accepted early Saturday.

Saturday:

• It’s bazaar day! This is one of the biggest fundraisers the UMW does each year. With everyone’s help, it will be a great event! If you have not been able to donate items to sell at the bazaar, you can still help by being a “shopper” and telling all your friends to do the same!
• The bazaar hours are 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
• Help would be appreciated at 3:00 to take down the tables and prepare the fellowship hall for Sunday’s activities. The women who have been working all week (and longer) are pretty tired by Saturday afternoon and really appreciate extra help!

You should have learned from your newsletter that we are planning to offer Thanksgiving dinner at the church. We will have a sign up sheet to circulate beginning this Sunday. We’ll need to have a good idea of how many people will be in attendance. We hope that anyone who doesn’t have other plans on Thanksgiving Day will come to the church and share the holiday meal with other church people.

This should provide everyone with plenty of things to do in the coming week when we’re not raking leaves or dodging raindrops!
