I hope your week is off to a good start. The church office is a busy place this morning – lots of people in an out and many things happening! It was good to be back to our “usual” worship service yesterday. Our UMC missionary Devi Bhujel was quite interesting, but it is good to go back to the service we are more familiar with.
The week’s meetings & events:
- Tonight: Mission Team meets at 6:00 p.m. in the pastor’s office. Church Council meets at 7:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall. If you chair a team or committee you are expected to attend the Church Council meeting. Anyone involved in the life of this church is welcome and encouraged to attend.
- Tuesday: NEWSLETTER ARTICLES ARE DUE!! The last couple of months we have had more time between Council meeting and newsletter deadline, but not this month! I’m counting on you to get articles to me that are timely and of interest to all who love this church.
- Also Tuesday The quilt & sew group meets at the church at 1:00 p.m. Bring your project to work on – the bazaar is 2 weeks from next Saturday!
- Disciple Bible Study at Pastor Jerry’s home at 6:30 p.m.
- Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. the Ocean Park Site Advisory Team is meeting in our fellowship hall. This group meets in our building for some of their meetings.
- Wednesday: Active Listeners group meets at the church at 9:30 a.m.
- Disciple Bible Study begins at 10:00 a.m.
- Choir practice is at 7:00 p.m.
- Next Sunday: Remember it is the last Sunday of the month and we will have potluck lunch after worship. Since it is the last Sunday before Halloween you are invited to wear a “non-violent” costume to church! Some people love costumes & others, not so much. It is your choice, but we don’t want to scare anyone. There will be special activities for families after lunch. Anyone who would like to is invited to bring some treats for this part of the day: candy or other Halloween treats, or sugar cookies for decorating. This should be a fun event for our children of all ages!
The Finance Committee has asked me to remind you to turn in your pledge for 2009 and your talent sheets by next Sunday. The response has been good so far! Please notify Don Christensen or Ann Ford if you don’t have these forms and they will see to it that you get them. You can reply to this email and I’ll pass the message along if you would like.
If you were watching the announcements on the screen before worship yesterday you should already be aware that our church website has been renewed and re-energized! Take a look – I think you’ll like what you see. www.longviewumc.org Many thanks to Shannon Hemrich for all the time, energy and talent that is involved in this project! It looks great!!
A reminder for our church Christmas play: Rehearsals have begun and will continue each Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. Kerrie says there is something for anyone who would like to be involved in the play and not all the jobs are “on stage”. There is technical work, scenery, costumes and I’m sure the list goes on! This will be a fun project that the public will be invited to attend December 12th & 13th.
That’s it for now. Remember to send your newsletter articles! The easiest way for me to get them is through email.
Blessings,
Sharon
